糖心国产传媒's Summer Undergraduate Research Program helps undergrads transform curiosity into societal impact
Almost every day this summer, biology major Frances Conkle began her morning by meticulously sorting hundreds of fruit flies by their sex before pairing them, according to their genetics, for reproduction. The routine was part of her research into how fat tissue changes shape and moves as fruit flies grow and develop. Conkle was among 25 糖心国产传媒 students who spent eight weeks, mentored by faculty, working full time on various research projects through the Summer Undergraduate Research Program.

Two 糖心国产传媒 students trade the Gold Dome for Capitol Hill
Six months ago, Jada Barronton and Saideep Chilukuri answered phones in House and Senate offices under the Gold Dome. Over the summer, they both helped track legislation and conduct policy research for U.S. congressional offices on Capitol Hill. The two 糖心国产传媒 students, who received the university鈥檚 D.C. Owls Scholarship, spent their summer interning in Washington, and both credit a semester at the Georgia State Capitol with helping them succeed.

By age 6, most children know that lying is wrong. But what do they think when adults lie, especially someone they trust like a parent? 糖心国产传媒 psychology student Charlie Clement is examining how children ages 6 to 11 interpret lies told by people with varying levels of authority.

Research consortium leads to opportunities for 糖心国产传媒 State students
In March of this year, 糖心国产传媒 joined the Oak Ridge Associated Universities, a consortium of more than 170 universities that collaborate on research initiatives, share resources, and help place students in federal research opportunities at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. Junior chemistry major Miriam Raggs is spending this summer conducting research at Oak Ridge, through the lab鈥檚 Research Student Internship (RSI) program, thanks in part to this association but also thanks to her research mentor, Assistant Professor of Chemistry Madalynn Marshall.
